Mara Donadio, LMSW
Staff Therapist
I believe therapy should be a space where you can feel safe, seen, and accepted as you are. You are not broken, and you don’t need to be fixed. Healing begins with recognizing your inherent worth and reconnecting with parts of yourself that may have been silenced or overlooked. My goal is to support you in cultivating greater self-understanding and compassion so that you can move through life with more clarity, confidence, and connection.
My approach integrates psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral (CBT) therapies, which means I pay close attention to both the deeper roots of your emotional experience and the practical tools that can help you feel more grounded in the present. I also have a background in grief work and a strong interest in helping individuals cope with loss - whether that’s the death of a loved one or experiences of loss that come with major life transitions or changes in relationships.
I see therapy as a collaborative process, one where we work to explore your story, make meaning of your experiences, and move toward healing and growth. Together, we will gently uncover the roots of patterns and behaviors that may have helped you to survive challenging moments, but are now getting in the way of the life you want to live. Whether you’re navigating the stress of our fast-paced world or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, I’m here to support you with curiosity and warmth. I’m committed to creating an affirming and inclusive space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I especially enjoy working with young adults as they move through life transitions, explore relationships, and learn how to live more fully and authentically.
I earned my Master of Social Work degree from Columbia University and my Bachelor’s degree from Brown University. Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a teacher, where I learned the importance of emotional safety and curiosity in supporting growth for children and adults alike. I’ve also worked in non-profit mental health and research settings, which deepened my commitment to accessible, compassionate, and effective care.
