Lara Hoffmann Nasar
Staff Therapist, MHC-LP

Therapy presents an opportunity for you to explore your emotions, make sense of your experiences, and reconnect with what matters most to you. I believe each person comes into therapy with their own story, strengths, and way of being. Grounded in a culturally responsive and affirming framework, I draw from Emotion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy—tailoring these methods to support your unique personality, needs, and hopes for growth. Together, we’ll work toward greater emotional awareness, more fulfilling relationships, and a life that feels meaningful and aligned with your values.

Growing up in Brazil as the child of immigrant parents in a multicultural family, I understand the importance of connection, family, and community. I invite you to explore your own ways of relating to others and to yourself in a warm, supportive environment where you feel seen and heard.

I have experience working with individuals and couples facing a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and trauma. I’m also eager to support immigrants and those navigating questions of identity, belonging, and cross-cultural experiences. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and identities, honoring your unique story throughout our time together. I recognize the courage it takes to seek support—especially when life feels heavy—and believe there is deep strength in taking steps toward healing. I’m continually inspired by the resilience I witness in those I work with and would feel honored to be part of your journey.

I hold a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and currently practice at SoHo Psychology in New York City. I offer sessions in English and Portuguese, both online and in person, to support you as you navigate connection, healing, and meaningful change with presence, care, and genuineness.
